{"id":1275,"date":"2021-07-06T11:55:27","date_gmt":"2021-07-06T09:55:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/collabfactory.art\/?p=1275"},"modified":"2021-07-19T15:37:39","modified_gmt":"2021-07-19T13:37:39","slug":"do-we-need-women-in-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/collabfactory.art\/en\/article\/do-we-need-women-in-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Do we need women in art?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Women are the moon that moves the tide.<br>The words of the feminist contemporary art collective Claire Fontaine have a particular resonance at Collab Factory, an agency composed of 75% women, including its founder, and we are proud that the majority (over 60%) of our collaborators are with women artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This statistic does not erase the sad observation of the current art world in France: women are underrepresented and underpriced (now is the time to invest).<br>While women represent 60% of art school students, they constitute only 20% of programmed and exhibited artists and only 10% of artists awarded a prize. Unbelievable.<br>What to do ? Ana Leovy evokes equality, diversity and also the protection of the environment since the collection is designed from sustainable materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>A committed collaboration with a woman artist is an opportunity for a brand to tackle important themes: equality, &#8220;empowerment&#8221;, sorority, but also diversity or intersectionality.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Committed artists whose subject is equality will be able to bring authenticity and depth to the activation and avoid &#8220;pinkwashing&#8221;. All subjects are affordable in art and choosing the right artist also lies in the positioning chosen upstream of a collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>At Collab Factory, we are driven by the fact that awareness must be collective and at the level of each individual. Without massive action led by public opinion, the place of women in society will not be able to change structurally.<br>We follow a charter of equality on a daily basis in the way we work. For example, we include in each of our recommendations a fair panel of female and male artists.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is obvious that these causes can and must be defended also by men.
